T. Coraghessan Boyle:
I've been reading Mr. Boyle's novels since Budding Prospects and several have acted as a catalyst for a series of paintings and lithograph/linocut prints. I wondered if this kind of cross-pollination (hero worship?) is common or whether other visual artists have found his imagery similarly inspiring? Wish I could display some images here, but there is no way to link or upload. His humor...ahh, it's the best!

When music/ non-literature media influences your work, do you find that it is more often the jumping-off-point/inspiration for a story or something you add to an existing work-in-progress as further texture? (I'm thinking, specifically, of Bruce Springsteen and "Greasy Lake," but am asking more broadly).

I just read Drop City (though I am embarrassed to say it has been on my shelves since it was first published). It was a wonderful narrative, filled with the precise and stunning language for which you are famous. Did you feel close to some of them? I was wondering about Ronnie, who shared your "Eastern" background, and was a flawed character.
