Kelcie
Kelcie asked T. Coraghessan Boyle:

When music/ non-literature media influences your work, do you find that it is more often the jumping-off-point/inspiration for a story or something you add to an existing work-in-progress as further texture? (I'm thinking, specifically, of Bruce Springsteen and "Greasy Lake," but am asking more broadly).

T. Coraghessan Boyle I love it, Kelcie, because I've just re-read "Greasy Lake" for the first time in years, as I will present it live at USC on Thursday. Many things inspire me to write a given story. In that case, many years ago, it was the notion of teen selfhood, not to mention angst. We have all been to Greasy Lake.
