Melon
Melon asked T. Coraghessan Boyle:

First of all, I love your stories. Most of them seem to me to have a very melancholy feel, and many strike me as downright depressing. Do you consider yourself a "melancholy" person in general? Or does writing these stories help excise those types of feelings?

T. Coraghessan Boyle You got me there, Melon. I am as depressed as Samuel Beckett, only I present in public as a comedian (as he did in his work). I'd like to have better news for everybody, but life, given the conditions with which we must face the universe, is universally a downer. Despite all that, I do have fun.
