When you wrote "Wild Child" did you back to the original French sources while researching the story?

T. Coraghessan Boyle I did indeed, Andrew. And purposely avoided re-viewing the Truffaut film of the late 60s (which I saw in its period). BTW: I did visit the Institut des Sourds-Muets in Paris and was amazed to see that the marble steps have been worn down by the feet of the generations of students there.

I've been reading your work since Budding Prospects. I'm now reading San Miguel and recently ready The Women. I was thinking just today that you seem to have been able to create credible female characters and give them believable voices, especially as regards their sexuality. Can you comment on how your writing in the voice and mind female characters have evolved over time?
