Ann Blonston
Ann Blonston asked T. Coraghessan Boyle:

I've been reading your work since Budding Prospects. I'm now reading San Miguel and recently ready The Women. I was thinking just today that you seem to have been able to create credible female characters and give them believable voices, especially as regards their sexuality. Can you comment on how your writing in the voice and mind female characters have evolved over time?

T. Coraghessan Boyle Thanks, Ann. Wonderful question, and one dear to my heart. In short: I try to push myself to go where I haven't gone before to see what will come of it. The most difficult book for me was San Miguel, because I wanted to write entirely from the pov of women, in a historical period, sans irony. I'm glad I did. I think I learned a great deal.
