Theresa asked Sophie Hannah:

I have just finished reading "Little Face" and simply loved it. Could not put it down. I will now have to try more of your books. My only question would be why was David left so much up in the air given he was such a central character with some quite odd and bizarre behaviour ?

Sophie Hannah So glad you enjoyed Little Face! My intention was to show David as a broken man at the end. He has persecuted his wife and lost everything, including his daughter, all because he could not see that his mother was evil. You're not supposed to feel sorry for him, because he himself has behaved appallingly, but you're supposed to see him as someone who will never forgive himself and probably never recover - or else bury himself in complete denial, as is probably more likely.
