I just finished The Narrow Bed and thoroughly enjoyed it as I do all your books. I have a question about a detail so unimportant I have tried to stop thinking about it but I can't! I also suspect the answer is either embarrassingly obvious from the book- or "Really? Who cares." Anyway, here goes: why was isobel wearing sandals in January?
