Stepping away and diving into some other media source gets my imagination fueling again. I'm the kind of guy who finds a story in an abstract photo or a song. It also helps to stick my characters in the hot seat and "interview" them as if we were talking face to face. I do that a lot on my blog, not just to generate ideas but also because it's a lot of fun!
