Hello SR! First of all, congratulations on the success of The Shadow with its release last week. I have to say, this book is my favourite in the Florentine Series to date! My question is, when you get an idea for a story, do you work out how the story will end before you even start writing? Where do you start writing, at the very first chapter, the middle, the end? Thanks for your question.
When I outlined the Florentine Series, I did it from beginning to end. Sometimes there are questions about where to end one book in the series and where to begin the next but for the most part, I have it all planned out before I begin to write. And then I start at the beginning.

So, this question is from my son Sam: "When writing a book, do you start with an idea for a character, a particular scene, dialogue or the complete story and how do you build outwards from that original idea?"
