Deeply unlikable main character. After 70% of the novel, nothing much had happened. Perhaps the point of the novel is to reveal that detective work is so boring that detectives need to carp at each other just to get through their boring days. The main character is shallow, narcissistic, and quick to wrong judgements. The only thing about this book that I enjoyed was the Irish slang.(less)
