Not a question, just wanted to say thanks for the excellent book! I'm an avid reader and Mount Char is far and away the best I've read in the past year. I've been recommending it to everyone I've talked to in the past week or so and made my husband read it as well. Can't wait to read your next book! For movie casting, how about Sam Neal as Father? He's got that stern, creepy vibe going! Best, Shelly

Hey Shelly,
I think Sam Neill is a fantastic choice! I saw your question a couple days ago but evidently didn't hit "Save" or whatever. I did a reddit AMA on Friday and mentioned it.
Sam Neil has been one of my favorites since The Omen IV. He played the grown-up son of satan, running for congress or something. Admittedly I was 12, but I thought that movie was great. Also Event Horizon, Red October and of course In the Mouth of Madness.
In the happy but unlikely event that someone from Hollywood ever asks what I think, I'll a) mention him and b) tell them that I heard it from you.
Oh, and thanks for the great review!

Thank you for writing this novel. I came across it almost by accident and was intrigued -- as a book nerd -- with the idea of an urban fantasy novel with a library as the focus. While I don't read 'everything' (I have my own particular preferred genres and I stay there) Mt Char has to be the most unique 'idea' I've read since Lovecraft. Did you have trouble selling this novel and getting it picked up by a publisher?

I am 100% on board for a story from Erwin's perspective! I know you mentioned that there are some narrative/plot issues with doing a sequel to the book, but I (and my book club) would love an Erwin spin off. We all agreed that we'd defnitely read it! Any chance this could happen?

Pardon me if this has already been asked, or if it really is obvious in the book, but I didn't catch it, even after reading it twice.... How does it become David's "assignment" to rescue Steve from prison? Does Carolyn convince him? How does she convince everyone that Steve is "essential" but also disposable? And is his heart a McGuffin?
