N.K. Jemisin I don't think my day job specifically impacts *characterization*; I think it impacts *everything* -- the time I have to write (or lack thereof), the worldbuilding, you name it. But then every aspect of a writer's life impacts everything they write, so.

How did you decide to end your Broken Earth trilogy in a way that kept mother and daughter from fully reconciling? I wish they had been able to talk and explain themselves to each other and understand how much they were alike! (I know that probably BECAUSE I wanted that for them, your way was the more powerful and moving ending!)
