Andrew asked Sylvain Reynard:

In the Gabriels Inferno trilogy You seem to depict Julia's character as a very firm believer in catholism. My question is, what inspired you to create Julia in that way? And I know this might sound random but have you heard of the album called Ceremonials by Florence and the Machine? P.s Your books are amazing!

Sylvain Reynard Thank you, Andrew.
I haven't heard that album, but I like her music so I'll be sure to look it up.
Thanks for the recommendation.

My novels tend to explore spiritual themes in various ways. Julia's Catholicism and her reflection on that tradition played an important role in the Gabriel Series. In many ways, both she and Gabriel were on their own spiritual journey.

Thanks for reading, SR
