Sara Alegría
Sara Alegría asked Katie McGarry:

What motivated you to write the PLS series?

Katie McGarry Hi Kenna,

Two very opposing emotions motivated me to write the Pushing the Limits series: pain and hope.

I've been through some very dark circumstances in my life, especially when I was a teen. At the time, I remember feeling hopeless and like there was no way out. As if I was stuck on a broken merry-go-round that kept going round and round and round....until one day I found the courage to jump off.

Jumping was scary. Jumping was painful because landing sometimes can hurt. But jumping was the best thing I ever did.

Jumping meant I had found hope or at least believed there was a shred of hope. Hope is an extremely powerful thing. It can beat off the darkest night with just a tad bit of faith.

I write books to show no matter how dark the circumstances, there is always hope.

Thank you for the question,

Katie
