Glee I'm reading along and watching the TV show at the same time. Good book, good TV. I like having the book fill in the background more, but think the TV show can stand on its own. Best thing I've seen on Syfy in a while.

Cindy C I've watched both seasons of the show (first) and read the first book.

Miller's creepier and more annoying in the the show compared to the book. I really liked him in the book whereas I found him insufferable for most of the tv series. Holden's kinda a pain in the ass in both.

The book is more nuanced and better paced. All of the characters are more likable. But the show does get better in season 2 imo and is worth watching.

Matt McCarthy Tried to watch the show, but I can't. Too much has been altered or added and the casting feels wrong. The show slows the pace of the story down so much, and the characters seem very different people to me then the ones I loved in the book. Maybe I could have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the books first.

Brandt I just finished the whole season 1 of the TV show, and will be digging in to the book now. Best thing since BSG when it comes to sci-fi TV for me, and that is about the best praise I can give. Really looking forward to getting more out of the story, and I am sure I will from the books.

Bovaz I watched the pilot-thing on youtube. And I am reading the first novel right now. Can't help but think that the crew of the Rocinante should have looked more like the crew of the Serenity. And something feels off about Miller. Full judgement when I see more episodes, but the potential may be there.

Linda I found the show first and loved the first three episodes but I'm the kind of person who *always* thinks the book is better ;) So I decided to read the series first and then watch the show. I'm not that far into the book and I already think it's better, lol (it provides more background info which is obviously easier for a novelist to do than a tv show).

Kristina Coop-a-Loop Watched the first two. Yuk. Typical of Syfy, sex, violence and drama emphasized (and manufactured). The casting feels wrong, particularly for Miller and Holden. I've read the first two books, but I'm finding the show difficult to follow and downright boring. I know that bringing a book into a tv/movie medium requires changes, and I'm okay with that as long as the adaption is true to the spirit of the novel (s). In this case, it seems that Syfy is already violating that for me. I agree with Bovaz below that the Rocinante crew have camaraderie and should be more like the Serenity crew, but The Expanse has them fighting amongst each other, ignoring distress signals (which they didn't do in the book) and basically they come off as jerks. The introduction of Avasarala of the UN (from the second book) as some kind of CIA torturer is extremely disappointing to me. I'm not going to watch any more of the show because the books are much, much superior plus there's a lot of better shows to watch (not on Syfy).

Amanda I haven't read the books yet but I have watched all 6 episodes that have aired so far of season one and I love it. I'm a fan of Thomas Jane and a few of the other actors and it's good. I haven't watched a full sci-fi space set show in years. I'm waiting till after season 1 ends before I read book 1 but have heard just a few changes and where the show is at compared to the books. It's already been renewed for a 2nd season too.
