Goodreads asked Johnny Welsh:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Johnny Welsh It doesn't cost anything to write. I used pen and paper; from legal pads to sticky notes to bar napkins. Then I had a whole pile of random and insane thoughts with which I did nothing. When I did begin to write, I had a nice pile of ideas that I could pull out and incorporate into my project. The only other advice I would give about writing is to make sure you are reading. Read. Read. Read.
