One big 'ole up of coffee and Mozart in the background. Sometimes all I need is Mozart. I can't even begin to explain how this inspires and motivates me to accomplish more. I know there are theories such as the Mozart effect, but for me, I still want to believe in the magic of it.

I am working on volume two of this series. Weedgalized in Colorado touched upon the stories from the first eighteen months of legalization. Now, as these stories mature on their own, there are many new opportunities for stories and updates.
While I write this second volume, I can't help but write down ideas and topics for other books. One of which will be about bartending and common sense 101 classes.

It doesn't cost anything to write. I used pen and paper; from legal pads to sticky notes to bar napkins. Then I had a whole pile of random and insane thoughts with which I did nothing. When I did begin to write, I had a nice pile of ideas that I could pull out and incorporate into my project. The only other advice I would give about writing is to make sure you are reading. Read. Read. Read.

I can really think about what I want to say before I say it. Sometimes during social events I tend not to think, and spew out my thoughts. This makes me cringe when I think about it. I'm not saying that I am vulgar or offensive, but oftentimes I think to myself, "I really could have said that better".

I have several books on my bookshelf at home that make me want to write. Some author's styles and writing are so inspiring to me that it helps me to be creative. The styles of David Sedaris, Tucker Max, Robert James Waller, and Bill Phillips help me to want to improve my writing style. Then I have several "how to" books on writing and publishing by Dan Poynter, Patricia Fry, Mark Levine, and John Kremer. These authors offer the nuts and bolts of writing and cover many topics including getting prepared and organized.

Every time I traveled out of state or out of country I would undoubtedly meet fellow travelers from around the world. I would imagine many experience this. When I say that I am from Colorado, I am then surrounded by people with giggles and smiles. They are looking at me and asking, "So, what is like?" They are referring to the legalization of cannabis. It is quite the ice breaker. Add to this the fact that while bartending, I received a barrage of questions from out of state visitors, guests, and tourists about the new industry. They all wanted to hear the real story from someone who is living in it.

I remember when I decided to write the book. It was February 2014 and I was closing up the bar. I was recapping in my mind the funny evening I had telling so many weed stories to the tourists. The stories were prompted by the never-ending array of questions.
