Don't write what you know, write what you want to know. Jules Verne didn't know anything about submarines or time machines. J.K. Rowling didn't know anything about magic schools. That didn't stop either of them. I've learned so much from writing this book because there were aspects of it that I knew nothing about when I began. But I know people, as we all do, and the rest can be researched.
