Goodreads asked Matthew FitzSimmons:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Matthew FitzSimmons My solution is to talk and get out of my head. I find that when it is just me that I sometimes cut corners or avoid acknowledging the problem/hole in my story's logic. I know it's there, but like the proverbial elephant in the room I paper over plot holes to suit myself. However, by talking the story through out loud to a trusted friend, I force myself to acknowledge (and often solve) the very thing that was holding me up. And sometimes my friends solve it for me. Have friends who are smarter than you - I cannot recommend that enough.
