What gave you the idea for your magic system and how did you go about developing it?
Brian McClellan
I wanted to develop a magic system around guns (specifically Thomson machine guns) after watching Public Enemies. But I've always wanted to write epic fantasy as a career, so I stewed on the idea a bit then watched Sharpe's Rifles and knew that's the direction I wanted to take things. Black powder mages came about naturally from there.

I first wanted to thank you for this wonderful story. I have still not recovered from the read, one of my favorite ever. As to the question, I just wondered why you didn't give your characters a family name (except for noble people like the lady Winceslas or Erika ja Leora). Did you do it on purpose ? As another difference between the nobility and the common people ?

Hey Brian, want to say I am a huge fan of the Powder Mage Trilogy. It's probably my favorite series ever. So i was wondering if you are planning on releasing a colored map of Adro, Kez, Deliv, Novi, etc.? Like the one at the beginning of the books. I think it would be awesome to frame and have one.
