In eighth grade I read Wuthering Heights. I loathed it. I never touched a classic again. Until I saw the movie "Pride and Prejudice" and became obsessed with Austen. I love this novel; everything from her language to her authentic characters. It's so fresh and different from the Bronte sisters works. I want to read more of this! Please tell me which Austen book I should read next and/or other classics similiar to it?

Joanna Cordova All of Austen's books should be and more importantly deserve to be read!! They are my go to re-read time and time again. Of her remaining collection I am recommending in my order of preference: Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, Emma & Northanger Abbey. Another favorite of mine is Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Uberville's. Read the Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. I love her style and have only read one other book (Mandala) of hers (she wrote 40+ books) but I liked them both very much. Don't give up on Charlotte Bronte because of Emily! If you read only one other you must read Jane Eyre! I read all the Bronte sisters books & Charlotte is the most accomplished. Good luck!
adriana I think Sense and Sensibility or Emma. Or if your looking for a simpler, gothic book, Northanger Abbey is also alright. However, I find Mansfield Park and Persuasion dull and more boring than the rest of her books. But they are still good. After you're finished her books, you should read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I find the writing style to be similar.
Elisabeth Ann LaFleur Personally I love all Austen books I red,but if I had to pick a few favorites,I would recommend Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, and Sense and Sensibility.
Jennifer Apparently I'm the odd one out, as I prefer Persuasion and Northanger Abbey to Sense and Sensibility and Emma. I also didn't like Jane Eyre (but then, I loved Wuthering Heights). I definitely recommend Edith Wharton's books to people who liked Jane Austen, particularly Age of Innocence. I suspect Charles Dickens might also be a good direction to go once you've exhausted Jane Austen's catalog--maybe start with some of his shorter works, like his Christmas novellas, and go from there.
Sam Emma is a good book to read next, then Sense and Sensibility... Those plus P&P are the best of Austen's works. If you are looking for some classics that are similar: Wives & Daughters and North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell are pretty good too.
misfantasyfiction ☆゚.*・ First of all, I loathe Wuthering Heights too and I'm a huge classics fan. I would really recommend Far From the Madding Crowd by Hardy and Vanity Fair by Thackeray (I know it's long but it's totally worth it!). Also Rebecca by Du Maurier (she has a similar writing style to Austen and that book is a masterpiece).
Grace Personally, I absolutely love Sense and Sensibility:) Emma's fantastic as well, I just finished reading it for a school novel study.
Samantha I would definitely recommend Emma next!
Ariana Jashari Alright, I can now say I have a completed collection of Austen's books! Just gotta find the time to read them now haha
