Do you read a lot of other YA and/or watch the movie adaptations?

I try to read a fair bit of YA, but there's so much out there that it's hard to keep up. I've read enough to know that we're in something of a golden age - there's something good out there for everybody, regardless of your preferences. Some of the movies are good too. I like the Hunger Games films, for instance.

You've created strong female characters (Kitty, Asmira and Lucy) that differ from current SciFi/Fantasy in their focus on their mission and less worried about romantic entanglements with your male characters. Among the factors driving your creative concept do you have a daughter and are you consciously seeking to distinguish the role of the women in your stories in a way that is distinct from other literary trends?

Hello Mr Stroud! I absolutely love your books :D You've created very interesting settings in your books, having a modern yet antique feel to it. In Bartimaeus there is very interesting relationship between the magicians, the commoners and the spirits. Is such kind of a society and government present all over the world or just England in that universe during that time? Please do write more Bartimaeus stories :)
