In your recent book tour visit in LaGrange, IL, you mentioned that you are not really able to control the cover of your books, which got me to thinking: What DO you think of the Amulet of Samarkand's cover?! Is that at ALL how you pictured Bartimaeus in your mind or did they TOTALLY screw it up?! Thanks for considering my question--it was great to hear both you and Eoin speak about your writing!

Jonathan Stroud Hello Kristin! Thank you for your message, and thanks for coming to LaGrange! Eoin and I really enjoyed our visit there. I think the US cover for Amulet is very striking, and it's clearly a good cover as it's been kept for more than 10 years. It isn't how I personally see Bart myself, though. I think it's just a little too sinister. But it's very hard to get it right.

And do you have any advice for someone, such as myself, who is interested in becoming an editor?
