A.Rae
A.Rae asked Jonathan Stroud:

I have always wanted to be a YA/MG author, and lately I have become interested in pursuing a career as an editor of YA/MG books. Would you say that working as editor helped you as an author? And do you have any advice for someone, such as myself, who is interested in becoming an editor? Thank you for writing such amazing books, I'm a huge fan of both Bart and Lockwood, and I can't wait for The Hollow Boy!

Jonathan Stroud Thank you! Being an editor certainly helped me - it gave me the confidence and ruthlessness to prune/change/completely alter my own work as I go along. Being an editor is a great job - but not easy: you have to be great with people, as well as words. Diplomacy and tact is part of the game. Good luck with it!
