Padmini asked Jonathan Stroud:

I love your alternate versions of London, both in the Bartimaeus books and in Lockwood & Co. Are there real places that inspired the fantasy London? That is, if I ever visit the UK, are there places where I could feel like I was in Nathaniel's or Lockwood's world?

Jonathan Stroud Ooh, lots of them. If you stroll around Westminster, Trafalgar Square and maybe head up to the British Museum, you'll see the places that inspired some of the big episodes in the Bart books. You can see streets very like Lockwood's Portland Row if you go wandering in Marylebone... But London has many faces: whichever way you go, you'll find something worth seeing!
