Alison Craig
Alison Craig asked Cornelia Funke:

Your characters seem so real, with their faults, loves and virtues all tumbled together - like the rest of us. You seem to genuinely care for each character you write. Is it difficult to "let them go" out into the real world where people can love or hate them, like letting a child move away from the protection of home?

Cornelia Funke O no, Alison, I never worry about them! They care about their own worlds. Ours is quite unimportant for most of them - unless they are quite vain:) I think it is enough that I love them- ..though...maybe they don't even care about that!:) By the way I definitely don't like them all. Orpheus for exampIe I wanted to kill off so badly but he escaped!
