There are stories in here that deal with teenage pregnancy, spousal abuse, and child abuse, so keep that in mind. However, they are not graphically discussed and, quite frankly, kids need to learn at some point that these things happen, so perhaps this would be a good entry point to discussing these often uncomfortable topics with a 12 year old.(less)
