The Whistling Sands - It was originally a short story, which needed to be fleshed out, and ended up being a psychological crime noir thriller.
The initial image that stuck in my mind was the Whistling Sands, and a story of betrayal, deceit, haunting and regret developed from that. Real places do that to you sometimes.
