Hello, A clock with elaborate Italian word work hangs in the Highlands Ranch Mansion in Highlands Ranch, CO. In Latin it is said to read " Time flies but man perceives it not" from Dantes Inferno. I have been trying to find this quote. By chance, are you familiar with it or do you have a suggestion as to how I can find it? I am wanting to check if it is the correct wording. Thank you, Sara saraleb@aol.com

Dear Sara,
Thanks for your question. It's a good one.
The quotation you're asking about is from Virgil, not Dante. Virgil wrote in Latin; Dante penned The Divine Comedy in Italian.
The quotation you mention is found in Virgil's "Georgics" and you can learn more about it here: http://promagistris.blogspot.ca/2006/...
But you can also find Virgil saying "Time flies" in Canto twenty-third of the Purgatorio, where Virgil is described as Dante's more than father. Virgil is telling Dante to get a move on ...
I hope this helps. Thanks for your question.
All the best and thanks for reading, SR

I'm not sure if this was ever asked before, but do you create a story board and develop your characters before writing your novels? You have a talent for making your characters real. I equate Gabriel with Mr. Darcy and believe Professor Gabriel O. Emerson will live on just as Jane Austen's Mr. Darcy has. Thank you, Ellie
