Do you chose them beforehand and write with that particular song in mind or do you look for a song that fits the theme of what you are writing at that time? I absolutely love your song choices! They are incredibly beautiful and incredibly perfect! Also, thank you for introducing me to artists and songs I was previously unaware of!

Thanks for your question.
Yes, I tend to be inspired by music before writing. But I'm afraid I don't listen to music while writing. I have a hard time "hearing" the dialogue if music is playing while I write.

So, this question is from my son Sam: "When writing a book, do you start with an idea for a character, a particular scene, dialogue or the complete story and how do you build outwards from that original idea?"
