Eva asked Eloisa James:

Hey! I absolutely love your books. How and when do you decide how your heroine will look like? In the very beginning or do you develop the story first?

Eloisa James Hi there! First off, thanks for the lovely compliment! And i'm sorry to take so long to answer—I didn't realize that you have to be logged in to see questions. It often takes me quite a while to figure out what a heroine looks like. And I do change it mid-stream. It's caused some problems with covers; because I write up to the last minute when my editor wrenches a manuscript out of my hands, some of my covers aren't truly representative of the heroine. I develop the story first, because once she makes herself really known to me, sometimes she's suddenly tall and spindly, or curvy, or with a fiery, red-haired temper.
