(view spoiler)[Ciao Eloisa! I wanted to ask something about 'Kiss me Annabel': I adore that book, especially the handsome Ewan... Until he transformed into a complete different person trying to have sex with a scared Annabel! He was stressed by his new life, but he seems a little out of character, just like at the end he becomes violent to his cousins and convinces Annabel that he truly loves her. Can you explain me thesechoices? (hide spoiler)]

Dear Ellis,
For about a hot second, I considered going back and reading the novel to see what you're talking about. But it wouldn't really make any difference. What happened with Kiss Me is that the editor I had at the time cut the entire last third of the book and demanded it be entirely replaced. I disagreed, but I was pretty powerless at that point and I did. I then left that editor because my books do tend to go outside the bounds of standard romance, but that's what an Eloisa romance is (to me, anyway). So that book, to me, is a mess. I did end up publishing the original end (unedited!) in an act of defiance years later. So if you're curious at all, the original end is here: https://www.eloisajames.com//bookshel...
Of course, there might still be problems with Ewan, but that's where I was going, if it had been edited.
All best to you, Eloisa

Eloisa James:
Hi! Thanks for being available to answer our questions. My first relates to your 2 main romance sub-genres: the Georgian & the Regency. Which were you drawn to first? Do you find one easier to write? What qualities draw you to writing stories in the Georgian period? Also, was it hard to share your love scenes early in your career? I imagine feeling shy; sharing one's writing can feel vulnerable already. Regards!
