Goodreads asked Christine d'Abo:

How do you get inspired to write?

Christine d'Abo Inspiration is a tough topic. We all need things to help get our creative juices going. Sometimes it's music, pictures, reading a great book. Sometimes inspiration comes from sticking to a routine and working through a problem.

Over the years, I've had to rely less on inspiration and more on treating my day as a routine. This can be a blessing and a curse.

My brain is always working on my stories in the background. I do my writing in the mornings after I've taken my dogs for their walk. The combination of physical activity and the opportunity to let my mind wander in silence gets my creative juices flowing. When I sit in front of my computer, I'm at my most inspired to write.

That doesn't mean I don't get flashes of ideas at other times. It also doesn't mean that I'm super productive every day. But the routine makes the writing easier.
