Frankie asked:

I was simply wondering if anyone had an idea as to who the lady in the veil is, towards the end of the novel? My guess leans towards Paraleia, Alexandro's mother, but I am not certain.

Evan Kristiansen I think it was Diomanche, Xeo's Cousin.
Christopher Taylor Yeah definitely Diomanche, she came to pay her respects, but wears the veil of the Persephone priestess.
Mike McGregor Jr I'm not certain, but I believe it was meant to invoke Persephone, the Greek queen of the underworld. She was often perceived as a harbringer of a blessed afterlife. The constant reference to a veil, as well as the mention of the goddess earlier, makes we think this is a nod to the afterlife mythology of the time period.
Alan Edwards It was Diomanche.....which ties in perfectly with the narrative.
Max I'm seconding the Diomache guess, since it's repeated several times that she is a priestess at the temple of Persephone of the Veil. Also, Paraleia promised Leonidas she would be a model wife and mother, so it could be seen as a violation of that promise if she were to linger over a grave more than the other women.
