Lisa Jablonsky
Lisa Jablonsky asked Christina Baker Kline:

It was so sad! Did you meet any of the Orphans? Were they sad and angry or thankful they weren't left as orphans on the streets of a city? Is there anything happening in the world today that is comparable for orphans?

Christina Baker Kline Hi Lisa - I was lucky to interview seven living orphan-train riders. Most of them expressed gratitude for having been given a chance at a new life; some said that they feel they have a "survivor spirit" as a result of their experiences. There are lots of dispossessed and abandoned children all over the world today. In many ways, the emotions that kids in foster care feel are the same as kids on the orphan trains. It's a terrible thing to feel you've been abandoned.
