Mr Stroud, I'm a huge fan! Firstly I wanted to ask about the romance aspect in your books, you've been quite vague about it with Kitty and Nathaniel and even with Lockwood and Lucy. Do you feel that the romance is irrelevant to the story line and that you'd rather leave that up to the reader or are you going to explore such an angle with Lockwood and Lucy? P.S please write another Bartimaeus story!!

Jonathan Stroud I think there is romance bubbling under the surface of the stories, but I do tend to underplay it, so that it doesn't destabilise everything else. The relationships between Bart, Nat and Kitty are the most important thing in the Trilogy, and Lucy and Lockwood's relationship is also central, but I'll still tread carefully with them.
