Jonathan Stroud:
When writing, how do you work? Do you have music on? Do you munch on something? Or do you prefer a nice sunlit garden to write in? As a writer, I'm curious! I for myself find music with lyrics to disturb with the rhythm a bit. Also I always tend to feel hungry when I sit down to write! Even now, I've gone some cashew nuts on the table (argh, there are ants now!)!

No music for me. Like you, I prefer silence. I often chomp on fruit or biscuits. Nuts are good too! I tend to write indoors where I can control the environment. Sometimes I gaze out of the window wistfully - that's good enough.

Did you have an idea of how the overarching story of Lockwood and Co. would pan out when you started writing the series or do you write each book as the story comes to you in regard to the characters development and relationships? I am 30 years old and I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book series so much!
