Do you use people from your life as the basis of some of your characters? If so who inspired Lockwood and Bartimaeus?
Jonathan Stroud
Not really. All my characters are amalgams of people I've met, and aspects of me. My mother claimed that Nathaniel was very like me as a twelve-year-old kid (i.e. an uptight, annoying, pain in the backside).

I didn't want to begin the typical way but I have to praise your work, especially with Lockwood&Co which has me deeply caught right now, I don't think I'm recovering from book hangover very soon. I'd like to ask a clever question but I'm far from that, so what comes to my mind is the skull and if it has developed some liking for Luce for some other reasons besides her being the only one who can hear it?
