Ari Todd
Ari Todd asked Kelley Armstrong:

Okay so I'm Canadian and I'm aspiring to be an author as well. But I heard that sometimes Canadian's have a disadvantage in the writers market as opposed to American's... did you find this true when you were first getting into publishing our books?

Kelley Armstrong Nope, never had any problem. I heard this before I was published too--over and over again, by other writers, instructors etc. I was told to make Elena in Bitten American and take out the parts set in Canada or I'd never find an American publisher. The truth? No publisher turned down the book for that and no editor asked me to change it. I encountered absolutely no obstacles getting published because I was Canadian or my main character was.
