Well, it is technically a "young adult fantasy", so take that as you will. With that said, I didn't find the tone childish at all. I'm 38, and immensely enjoyed the book. I read it to my then 7 year old daughter, and she actually didn't care for it as much as she did the Alcatraz series by the same author.
But no, I wouldn't say it has a "teenager feel".

I just finished it. It definitely is more "young-adult"-esque than his adult novels, such as Mistborn and Stormlight, but honestly, I liked it more than his Reckoner's series. I thought the world-building and depth to the magic system had a depth to it that kept me entertained and intrigued throughout (it has a very cosmere feel to the magic....if you don't know what that means go look it up and your mind will be blown). Yes, there were parts that would be funny to teens/tweens that for me made me roll my eyes, but I would recommend this book to anyone interested in good storytelling , world-building, and interesting magic mechanics.

I felt that the main characters seemed more like 12 year olds than 16.

at 34 I did enjoy it very much. It definitely isn't adult book, but neither is it childish. The very ending/epilogue annoyed me a little. It gave me worst Harry Potter vibes (spoiler warning): "Oh noes, the Big Bad is still here and will probably do bad things, but I will be here and stop him! Because no one is better predisposed to it than my 16 year old self". But that was only last chapter, rest of book was sensible. Didn't read Interworld so can't compare.

I'm 48 and was fully entertained by this book. It took a bit to get into it and understand what was being described (such a different concept), but it rolls without a hitch after that.

No, but it doesn't feel like an adult book. There are not really annoying tropes though and it doesn't feel purposely dumbed down like a middle grade book.
