Jonathan, I became a fan of Lockwood and Bartimeaus series at the prompting of my teenage son. I am hooked and look forward to your next releases! I find your characters and plots inspiring and hope I can channel a little of that magic into my own writing. What books or authors inspired you? Do you attribute one specific author with inspiring your career?

As a child I was a big fan of C S Lewis and Tolkien - they fueled my love of other worlds. Funnily enough I don't tend to read much fantasy now. When I emerge from my own creations, it's hard to instantly jump into someone else's.

Have you considered adding any special connection ghosts to any of the main characters of the Lockwood & Co series? Actually answer either that or this: Will you ever crossover at any point the Bartimaeus novels with Lockwood & Co? Like maybe a villain summons a djinni or something & Lockwood & Co go through the books to find another djinni (voila!- Bartimaeus) to fight back.

You've created strong female characters (Kitty, Asmira and Lucy) that differ from current SciFi/Fantasy in their focus on their mission and less worried about romantic entanglements with your male characters. Among the factors driving your creative concept do you have a daughter and are you consciously seeking to distinguish the role of the women in your stories in a way that is distinct from other literary trends?
