As an author and presumably someone who spends a lot of time alone, how do you know so much about office politics, ambition in a traditional career, and power games? Your characterizations in both the Bartimeus and Lockwood books and your analysis of people's behavior are so true to life.

Ha, I DO spend a lot of time alone, I can't deny it! Well, I used to work in an office, when I was an editor, though I wouldn't say I was exposed too closely to the naked workings of power. I guess I watch the news, and read a lot - and observe people I meet... from all these sources you get information about how the world works. I actually wish I was better informed about politics... a lot of it's pretty intuitive, actually.

Hi! I have read the Lockwood books and somehow, the Whispering Skull reminds me of the witty Bartimaeus.. Is this on purpose? Or it's just my feeling? And will I meet the Skull again in the future? (i hope so!) can't wait for the next Lockwood adventures, thanks for keep writing great stories :)
