Elysia Theodenson
Elysia Theodenson asked Gail Carson Levine:

Hello! Just one question from me: What inspired you to write "A Tale of Two Castles?"

Gail Carson Levine I wanted to try writing a mystery, and, as I often do, I looked for inspiration in fairy tales, which I found in "Puss in Boots," a story that conceals a mystery, or so it seemed to me. The sequel, STOLEN MAGIC, got its start in a fairy tale called "The King of the Golden River," then veered far, far from its origin.
