Hello! Just one question from me: What inspired you to write "A Tale of Two Castles?"

I wanted to try writing a mystery, and, as I often do, I looked for inspiration in fairy tales, which I found in "Puss in Boots," a story that conceals a mystery, or so it seemed to me. The sequel, STOLEN MAGIC, got its start in a fairy tale called "The King of the Golden River," then veered far, far from its origin.

Hi! I have a question. I don't know if it's going to make much sense but I'll try my best to explain it. I have heard people say two different things about writing. one is 'Write for yourself and yourself only.' The other is 'write for your audience and write what you know they'll like best because they'll be the one reading your book.' Is either right or should it be a mixture of both? Thanks!
