Elena Rose (The Bookish Queen)
Elena Rose (The Bookish Queen) asked Gail Carson Levine:

Hi! I have a question. I don't know if it's going to make much sense but I'll try my best to explain it. I have heard people say two different things about writing. one is 'Write for yourself and yourself only.' The other is 'write for your audience and write what you know they'll like best because they'll be the one reading your book.' Is either right or should it be a mixture of both? Thanks!

Gail Carson Levine I write to tell myself a story. Since I'm a curious person and a reader, I hope that what interests me will interest others. Sometimes I also have someone I know in mind who, I'm sure, will like my story. That person might be my editor or a friend.
