I listened to half of "Yellow Crocus" on audio and read the rest. As a new mother, I found myself moved to tears by Mattie's experience being separated from infant Samuel. This is such a wonderful book and I was sad to reach its end. As a historical novel, what was the most challenging part of the story to write?

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. Thanks for taking the time to ask a questions.

Since I loved Mattie it was very hard to write bad things happening to her. Some of the actual research was very hard to do, but with the internet I managed to find most details that I needed such as recipes, music, and the cost of things. It was impossible to find out the cost of fabric in that era, so I guessed based on prices in the 1870's. And I made a mistake when I had Lisbeth find her birth certificate. They weren't in common usage at that time.

I have moved forward with Maddie & Lisbeth's story since leaving this message & glad to go back to see how Lisbeth's family have been coping since she made that huge decision about her future? I am based in the UK and much prefer audio as I can listen while I work. And yes, I do hope the same narrator is available to read, she's amazing!
