I just visited Shechem (not the city, the adjacent mountaintop to Gerizim and Ebal). There is a sense of crossroads that one experiences looking at the city, and of course, long after Dinah's story, the Torah uses the mountains to represent choices that can result in blessing or cursing. Did geography affect what you wrote, or was it more of a psychological exploration of the characters and culture?

Hi Anita! I am a more recent fan, just finished reading The Boston Girl and loved it. Now I am going back to read your others. I adore historical fiction. My question: I see many correlations or maybe coincidences in The Boston Girl's Addie Baum and your life. (ex:Addie becomes a columnist, writes on child labor). Do you often incorporate your life and hopes into your characters?
