Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kate E. Thompson The idea for Bigfoot Hunters Never Lie came from family camp-outs and Bigfoot stories told around a blazing fire. It came from a photo of best friends, from 25 years in fundamentalist religion and coming out, an Ethiopian art exhibit and a high spirited daughter. There was a video from the animal shelter, documentaries, current events, the writings of Jonathan Edwards and Jay Bakker, a guy who played accordion in front of the grocery store and a homeless Vietnam vet. And questions – what’s the worst way to die? Is loyalty enough? Is it a lie if you believe it? Is a lie ever good? All of this and more went into imagining my debut novel. Bigfoot Hunters Never Lie.
