Are you done with the Vorkosigan universe? It's been a big part of our whole family's lives. We always anticipated a book in which Ivan's careful avoidance of obvious competence came out (probably because of a woman he was in love with) and I have to say that Vorpatril's Alliance did not disappoint. But I'd love to see one with Mark as the protagonist, and also Miles as he gets older.

Well, we'll see what Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen does for you.

But after three new Vorkosigan books in a row, none of them planned, I think I'm ready for a break from that universe.

As a lover of all of your books, I also read most of the books that you recommend as well (and like them very much). I am wondering if you have read these books which I treasure: Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin, and the Master and Commander series by Patrick O’Brian? The first is a complex fantasy; the second may be well outside your area of interest as it concerns the British navy during the Napoleonic Wars .

When asked "what is your favorite series," I do have ones within genres, but none overall because it's apples and oranges to me. That said, "Vorkosigan Saga" is my favorite Sci-Fi series, and if pressed on a favorite author, your name is the one I give. I simply love your flavor of storytelling. Obligatory fanboying out of the way, do you have any advice on writing stories for us who are woefully inexperienced?

Just finished Physicians of Vilnoc again. Pen often rids his local area of as many biting insects as possible. I wonder about the law of unintended consequences. Do you suppose there would be follow-on effects on the rest of the ecosystem with the removal of the flies, etc?
