Heather asked Gretchen McNeil:

Do you have any tips for surviving the revision process?

Gretchen McNeil I'm one of those weird authors who actually prefer the revision process. It's much less scary than first drafting and I always feel like, "Okay, I've got this mess of a book, but at least it's already a book! Now I can fix it!"

That said, revisions can be a monster. And they seem totally overwhelming, especially right at the beginning. I try to compartmentalize what I need to do, grouping notes into sections and then attacking the sections separately. Some how, that makes it feel less daunting! And I also allow myself some leeway - the book is still going to be a mess for awhile, and that's okay!
