Gretchen McNeil I have a whole bunch of stand alone thrillers and horror novels, with more to come! Thanks for reading!
Gretchen McNeil Unfortunately, there will be no fourth book in the #murdertrending series. My publisher decided not to move forward with more books in the series. Sorry!

Gretchen McNeil I'd love it! But that's out of my control. A production company, network or studio would need to option the film/TV rights then develop it THEN decide to greenlight it. A long process that has not much to do with the author!
Gretchen McNeil That is so wonderful to hear.

I think writing, like most skills, is one you improve over time. I have been lucky to work with a couple of amazing editors as well as my very savvy agent, and they have all helped to mold me as a writer - steering me away from bad habits and encouraging the things I'm best at. Getting feedback on your writing is key to improving!
Gretchen McNeil Yes! #NoEscape, a companion novel to #murdertrending and #murderfunding, hits shelves on September 15th!
Gretchen McNeil I do actually have a sequel in mind (called ELEVEN, of course) but I would need my publisher to want to buy the book before I write it, and that is out of the author's control, unfortunately!
Gretchen McNeil Unfortunately, I have no idea! The publisher maintained audio rights. As of right now, I don't think they have plans to do audio versions, but that could change!
Gretchen McNeil "She looked him right in the eyes. Then put them back on the shelf."
Gretchen McNeil Well now that I have some actual time to read, first up is The Stranger Diaries by Elly Griffiths followed by Laura Purcell's newest The Poison Thread. After that, The Grace Year and Ninth House!
Gretchen McNeil Sadly, no. Or I should say, not at this time. I had a sequel all sketched out but alas it wasn't to be. But never say never... :)
Gretchen McNeil My next book NO ESCAPE is a #MurderTrending companion, and I'm not quite sure what I'm writing next. It could be a third book in the series, but that's up to my publisher! I certainly left it open. :)
Gretchen McNeil The sequel #MURDERFUNDING comes out August 6th! I'd say try reading TEN if you haven't already. GET EVEN and GET DIRTY are also fun, though more murder mystery than horror, plus they're being adapted as a series for the BBC, premiering at the end of this year. If you have an e-reader, I also recommend RELIC, which is probably the closest in horror to TEN and #MURDERTRENDING. Enjoy!
Gretchen McNeil Not in novel form, but I've had some interest in film/TV rights. So you never know!
Gretchen McNeil Yes! #MurderFunding is out August 6th!
Gretchen McNeil It is absolutely a sequel! The survivors from #MurderTrending will all be present and accounted for, I promise!
Gretchen McNeil HI Mackenzie! I'm so glad you enjoyed TEN. It was a very intense book to write - I feel that way about all of my books that have high elements of horror - and yes, that was a little overwhelming at the time!

TEN is inspired by the Agatha Christie masterpiece AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, which, if you haven't read, you should rectify immediately. It is one of my favorite books of all time!
Gretchen McNeil Most of my books are stand alones, which means the characters and the worlds have no connection to each other. The exceptions are my two series - GET EVEN and GET DIRTY in the Don't Get Mad series, and #MURDERTRENDING which will have a sequel out in 2019.

As for advice to my younger self, I think one of the most important lessons authors need to learn is not to judge themselves by the paths of other authors. Their book deals, their successes, and their failures do not in any way affect YOU. So keep your eyes on your own paper, and you'll be a much happier author!
